FAQs

Frequent Questions…

u

Do you issue EICRs?

Yes, an EICR identifies any damage, deterioration, defects and/or conditions which may give rise to danger along with observations for which improvement is recommended. We can then advise on the best way to proceed. If this is something that we can help with, please call and arrange an appointment.

How much is a house rewire?

Without any discussion this is impossible to answer, as each property is unique. Some people would have 4 sockets in a room others only 2, some like a single central light, others multiple spotlights.

A rewire would be a complete new electrical system and therefore we at K2 would design a bespoke system with yourselves; to help think how you use the property, where you would like sockets and lights. We also install TV aerials, Internet points, security and fire detection – all part of your unique design.

If this is something that we can help with, please call and arrange an appointment.

Can you fit a new consumer unit?

Yes, we can install a new consumer unit (fuse box / distribution board) – the engine of your electrical system. It provides the safety, to cut off the supply in case of a fault. The newest boards, complying with the 18th IEE Electrical regulation, provide a very high level of protection from fire and electrocution.

Are you NICEIC registered?

Yes, I registered in 1989 as an Approved Contractor, working in local authorities and schools. This was essential – and I believe was a benchmark of quality for my new business. This was well before Part P was introduced (January 2005) where all electricians had to join one of the Building Control registered companies. We, as an Approved Contractor, were automatically registered as a Domestic Installer. The Part P Domestic Installer, is only for domestic works, where as an Approved Contractor can also work on commercial installations.
